ABCmouse.com

Product Overview

ABCmouse.com is a perfect first step in early all around education for children. It is set in a virtual bright, inviting classroom and is very easy to navigate for children learning to use a mouse. As stated, there are many, many activities to choose from. The room is set up into subjects: Math, Science, Reading, Art & Colors, and Music. This is a great choice because of the fact that it is all on the computer. Kids are learning how to use a computer while also learning basic reading, math and science.ABCmouse.com - First Month Free - Click here!

Who is this for?

Kids that have a very basic understanding of the computer and how to use a mouse can navigate it on their own. All activities are online, so this is geared towards visual and auditory learners. The classroom is a little busy, so it may be a little overwhelming at first glance, but once an adult helps the child learn the layout, he or she should be able to take over and explore independently.ABCmouse.com - Kids Ages 2-6 – Click here to get your First Month Free!

How to Use This Product

Introduce this product to your child with excitement and when they are eager to see it. Slowly walk through the classroom, giving them a virtual tour. Give the tour as though you are seeing it for the first time. Say, "I wonder what this is. I'm going to read it." and "Let's click here to see what happens".ABCmouse.com - Full Online Preschool-Kindergarten- First Month Free - Click here!

Once the initial introduction is complete, invite your child to "explore the room". If they ask to take over before your tour is done, let them take over and finish the tour later. Follow their lead. Let them try to navigate it on their own as much as they would like. Let their excitement dictate.

Soon, they will have an understanding of the site. You can begin to gently guide them towards certain activities. Make it a game. Say, "Do you think you can...?" "I bet you would enjoy...".

Avoid putting labels or judgments on their successes or struggles. If they do something well, tell them. If something is a challenge. Call it that and say, "Wow. That's challenging. That will be fun to practice and get better and better at. Challenges are fun."
